About Us

About the Redot Foundation
The Redot Foundation is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting and advancing truly open-source game engines.
We steward the Redot Engine—a high-performance, community-first fork of Godot focused on stability, freedom, and developer needs, and other tools geared for game creation.
Our work includes:
• Safeguarding the engines' independence and MIT licensing.
• Fostering an open, global community.
• Providing free education, documentation, tools, and resources.
• Launching programs like internships and mentorships to give students and early-career developers hands-on, real-world experience contributing to a major game engine—building portfolios, skills in core engine development, collaboration on large codebases, and professional references.
Donations fund core development, server/hosting costs, educational initiatives, community events, and opportunities for emerging talent to gain paid or structured experience in open-source engine work.
We offer flexible ways to contribute—whether you're an individual passionate about open source or a company looking to align with freedom-focused Software.
